Evaluation of the Promotion and information provision campaign for children to increase the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables in the internal market (France-Hungary)
The “Promotion and information provision campaign for children to increase the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables in the internal market (France – Hungary)” (hereinafter the programme) aims at increasing the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables for households with children aged 6-10 (France) or 6-14 years (Hungary). The programme is managed by INTERFEL (the French interbranch organization for fresh fruit and vegetables), the association of producers’ organisations (APO) for tomatoes and cucumbers (France), the APO for strawberries (France) and the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture (NAK). It is co-financed by the EU on the basis of Council Regulation (EU) No 1144/2014 (regulation on information provision and promotion measures concerning agricultural products implemented in the internal market and in third countries aims at enhancing the competitiveness of the Union agricultural sector). The programme runs from January 2018 to December 2020.
The programme is implementing a series of activities, such as press relations, the construction of websites and online-games, the use of TV advertising, the establishment of communication tools (booklets, etc.), the organisation of events (the fresh fruit and vegetable fest in June, roadshow) and presence throughout the year in selected points of sales.
Being on ongoing evaluation, this evaluation study will conduct the monitoring of the programme activities (outputs and outcomes), assess the relevance and effectiveness of the work packages and formulate recommendations as the programme is being implemented. In year 3, the evaluation will assess the impact of the programme relying on a qualitative contextual contribution analysis using secondary information and, if data is sufficient, a counterfactual approach using the primary information collected by the evaluator via post-testing during the programme implementation period.
