The challenges of competitiveness and employment in the framework of the transition to democracy in Tunisia

Objectives of this study were to make available to the government in charge of conducting the democratic transition process in Tunisia: • A diagnosis of the economic situation focussing on three domains: competitiveness of the economy at global and sectoral level; employement with a special attention given to the employement of highly qualified young people; regional development discrepancies, and • Based on this diagnosis, a set of proposals for action structured in the form of a road map defining the implementation time table of the actions, the actors involved in their implementation, and for those actions implying heavy investment an estimate of their cost.
