Support to the development of IT Strategy aligned with the Business Strategy for the Customs Administration of Montenegro

Accession to the EU is a strategic goal for Montenegro, which, among many fields, entails acceptance of the EU system of standards in the fields of protection of internal market’s financial interests and efficient external border controls. With regard to the Customs Administration of Montenegro (MCA), the accession negotiations involved a long period of approximation of the customs legislation and customs procedures towards European standards and begun in the first half of 2013. The Business Strategy of MCA has been developed since 2009 and covered a period of three years, until 2012. The new Business Strategy covered the next three years until 2015. The objective of the present project was to draft ICT Strategy in line with the EU requirements in order to facilitate trade as well as introduction of paperless operations. The project aimed to reconcile different documents and advised regarding the further development of the MCA IT systems for the next 8 years (2012-2020).
