Technical Assistance to EDF Procedures to the Commission of the CEMAC

Developed as the main instrument of cooperation between the EU and the Central African region, the Regional Indicative Programme (RIP) of the 10th EDF has three focus areas: trade and economic integration and support of the EPA, management of renewable natural resources, and political integration. CEMAC has been chosen as the lead organization in Central Africa to implement the component "Economic Integration and Trade (IEC)" amounting to 97 million euros. The flagship component of the "IEC" of the PIR is the 10th EDF Programme Support to trade and economic integration in Central Africa (PACIE) which is scheduled to start in April 2012. Given the magnitude and complexity of PACIE, several suspensive clauses have been granted to allow the launch of the tender before the signing of the financing agreement. A suspension clause has been granted for the recruitment of technical assistance support PACIE. Institutional support in the PACIE is also expected to strengthen CEMAC through recruitment of regional experts. The overall project objective was to support the CEMAC Commission in launching activities.
