EU Support to the Economic Policy Planning Unit of BiH (EPPU) - Phase II
The overall project objective was to contribute to sustainable economic development by the strengthening of BiH capacity to generate sound economic policies, bearing in mind the strategic objective of European integration. It also addressed the long-term development of the Directorate for Economic Planning/ Economic Policy Research Unit''s strategic role as a key economic policy planning and advice institution in the areas of macroeconomics; microeconomics; foreign trade; public finance; FDI; social policy, and the labour market. The results of the project were as follows:
• DEP provided an excellent, complex analysis of the status of Macroeconomics; Microeconomics; Foreign Trade; FDI; Public Finance; Social Policy; Labour Market, using economic and forecasting models in a creative and flexible manner;
• Effectively applied the results to the policy recommendations and the regular reviews of the MTDS;
• Established effective cooperation with NGO think tanks, resulting in better quality research and a greater credibility of government actions, at the same time stimulating the development of local independent expertise (pool of local experts);
• Set up regular cooperation mechanisms (and strengthened those already existing) with the relevant local bodies and government institutions as well as with prominent academic and research institutions locally and internationally.
