Technical Assistance Programme Coordinator
On 22nd May 2002, the European Commission provides a grant of euro 50 million to Pakistan. The aim of this grant is to assist Pakistan in the reform of its Financial Services Sector in the broader context of support to the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programme.
In this context, the Government is focusing on
• the privatization of a number of Commercial Banks
• the setting up of regulatory and operational mechanisms for new micro-finance institutions
• support to the SME sector notably through the establishment of the SME Bank
The purpose of this contract is to provide technical assistance to coordinate the programme through to the closure of the office at the end of July 2007.
The different TA activities have been identified and implemented by a Programme Coordinator, under supervision of, and management by the Delegation, and through regular coordination with the project focal point appointed by the Ministry of Finance
Technical assistance under this programme has placed emphasis on ensuring that appropriate institutional arrangements are in place, the necessary capacity building is performed at all levels, and an efficient delivery is provided to beneficiaries considering all such aspects as community mobilization and participatory development, gender issues, governance, monitoring and evaluation.
